Assessment of fatigue in women with breast cancer
Abstract: To evaluate fatigue in relation to quality of life and hemoglobin levels in women with breast cancer during chemotherapy treatment. Longitudinal study, carried out in a mastology outpatient clinic with 30 women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Data collection was performed using the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy – Fatigue (FACIT-F) scale, to assess fatigue and quality of life, and the levels of hemoglobin identified in laboratory tests. The analyzes of the variables were performed using descriptive and inferential statistics with a significance level of 5% and a confidence interval of 95%. A significant relationship between fatigue and the multidimensional dimensions of the quality of life scale (p<0.0001) and between hemoglobin levels (p<0.0001) was identified. Therefore, early identification of fatigue symptoms makes it possible to direct health actions to improve quality of life during chemotherapy.
